The old buildings occupying the site were removed in preparation for
expanded parking and the eventual building of the addition.
A sign erected on the vacant site provided updated information via flyers that could be picked up from the attached box, and referral to our ever-changing web site.
The sign got a new look in June 2008, with our funding goal of $9 million and our progress toward that goal clearly identified.
By January 2009, with both The Beachcombers and The Friends of the Library
spearheading a variety of fund-raising events, the sign was updated
to show $4.2 million invested in the library construction fund. In May
2011, just before it was removed when construction began in earnest, the
sign showed we were just $2 million short of our goal.
